Jane Tylus is Professor of Italian Studies and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. She has worked primarily in late medieval and early modern European literature, with special attention to Italian women writers. The Signs of Others: The Writings of Saint Catherine of Siena is forthcoming from the University of Chicago Press, and she is currently translating the poetry of Gaspara Stampa for The Chicago Series “The Other Voice in Early Modern Europe.” Other scholarly works include Writing and Vulnerability in the Late Renaissance (Stanford, 1993), Epic Traditions in the Contemporary World (California, 1999, co-edited with Margaret Beissinger and Susanne L. Wofford), and Sacred Narratives (Chicago, 2002), an edition and translation of the poetry of Lucrezia Tornabuoni de'Medici. With David Damrosch, she is the editor of the early modern volume of the Longman Anthology of World Literature. |
